Introduction to the Workshop

The Healing Art of Modern Kintsugi is a workshop inspired by the philosophy of Kintsugi.

Traditionally, Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold — a metaphor for embracing our flaws and imperfections.

Our respect and adoration of Kintsugi inspired us to apply the philosophy to this workshop as a metaphor for healing and meditative art.

Each participant will get to bring home 1 - 2 pieces of completed Kintsugi works, depending on the size of our upcycled wares provided.

*Sign up for 2pax to get 5% off! Discount will be automatically applied when you cart out for 2pax.

*As part of the updated COVID-19 measures, we will be checking your vaccination status and only participants who are fully vaccinated will be allowed into the workshop.

If you are unvaccinated and could not attend our physical workshops, alternative arrangements will be made for you. Please email us at staygold@goldandbehold.co

*You may bring along your broken wares as long as it is 15cm(W) x 15cm(L) x 5cm(H) or smaller, broken into less than 10 pieces. We have to limit the size and the number of broken pieces in the essence of time.

We provide restoration services too and you can check it out here.

In this 2 hour session, we will learn to slow down and have a conversation with ourselves, sit down with our imperfections, face them headstrong and rebuild our broken pieces, enabling us to be stronger than before.

This workshop is probably the only one where you are allowed to break things!

We understand that traditional Kintsugi fixes pottery that has broken unintentionally.

We believe in crafting an experiential workshop that provides self-discovery and reflection. In this workshop, the process of breaking an object is a symbolic representation of life's adversity, making it an essential part of the workshop.

It serves as a metaphor in life and teaches us that sometimes life slaps you in the face. When it does, we cannot control if we will shatter into pieces or perfect halves.

We can only face our broken pieces headstrong and create something stronger and more beautiful out of adversity.

As part of our upcycling efforts, you will be using beautifully curated pieces with slight manufacturing defects.

You will also get exclusive access to an array of gold powders that are hand mixed by us –– something you will not find anywhere else!

Every part of the workshop and our pieces are designed and executed with great thoughts and considerations.

You can understand more about the creative process behind our Kintsugi-inspired works by reading our FAQs and post.

Let's make a mess, embrace flaws and heal as a stronger individual through the philosophy of Kintsugi.
